Synopsis
In the small room of a motel in Michigan, two old friends and classmates, Vincent and John, meet on the occasion of the screening of John's film at a local film festival. Through a brief review of their course so far, they begin to dig into the past.
But when Vincent accuses John of raping his ex-girlfriend, Amy, forcing her to admit it, the controversial incident will escalate into a personal confrontation. Amy, invited by Vincent, will unexpectedly enter the room to give her own, different version… How does each character perceive and reproduce an event that belongs to the past and how does time distort their positions?
Stephen Belber's Tape (1999) premiered at the Actors Theater in Louisville as part of the "Humana Festival of New American Plays," while in 2001 Richard Linklater's film, written by the author himself, starred Ethan Hawke, Uma Thurman and Robert Sean Leonard.
The film received rave reviews for its success, with Uma Thurman nominated for Best Actress at the Film Independent Spirit Awards (2002).

Director's note
Time always changes the way we see things. The heroes of the play come to face an incident from their past depending on the time that has passed and how much each of them has changed.
Truth is always subjective and goes through their friendship, their competition, their common sense of humor and the power of choosing to be or not to be a victim.
There is something in all of us that we did not face in time and for one it became big and for the other small. Here's the stake in John and Vincent's position against Amy.
