Synopsis
Peter Straughan is a BAFTA Award nominee for OSCAR and many other international awards for his screenplays. DICE (English title BONES = the bones, the dice), a play written in 2002, takes us to an indebted pornographic cinema in Gateshead, a minor town in central England in the 1960s.
There, four losers, the two brothers-owners and their other two employees, are confronted by a burnt gangster who has come to the cinema on Christmas Eve, believing that there he will find erotic companionship for a fee. Upon arrival, one of the brothers, light-skinned and imaginative as he is, takes the gangster hostage and dreams of getting a ransom for his release. With this crazy scenario he believes that he will solve the financial problem of all of them and the company by putting the other three in this fantasy. This triggers a spartan cat / mouse game for five that resembles sometimes black and white gangster movies, sometimes silent comedy movies and has an unexpected and bloody ending.
